Welcome to the September Issue of The Art Section!

In this issue of The Art Section I am pleased to present an article on the exhibition Bauhaus: Art as Life, which premiered at the Barbican in London, UK written by our correspondent Anna Leung who is based there. I have always admired the Bauhaus; overlays between art and design interest me now more than ever. Stephanie Buhmann has written a spectacular piece on the American artist John Newman. I remember John from when I was a young grad student at Queens College in New York City, where he taught as an adjunct faculty member early in his career. His presence was immediately felt and valued by all who knew him, and I am so delighted that Stephanie proposed this essay. And lastly I am equally delighted that our intern Arianna Mantas has conducted an interview with the Australian street artist Miso. I discovered Miso last year; her work makes it clear that street art can be elegant and use a different language from the status quo.

I hope this fall proves to be a promising one and that The Art Section can provide something you have not heard of or thought about before but will pique your interest and contemplation.

All my best,

Deanna
